TIPS

YOU REALLY SHOULD...

If you're just looking around to find a reputable tiling company (hopefully ours!) then the following tips should stand you in good stead:

fez Book your appointment in advance and if the quote is acceptable book it the same day to guarantee the installation date you require.

fez The area to be tiled should be as flat as possible. We can tile on most surfaces however, the flatter the area then the better the finish. Most companies will charge for making good a bumpy wall so its ready to receive your new tiles.

fez If you want your old tiles removing then please be aware there is almost always a need to patch repair the wall that theyve come off. Adhesive is a cement and even though wed take care in removing them there will be some damage. Make sure you discuss and agree who is doing the repairs before proceeding with the tiling.

fez Any appliances should be disconnected & moved if you want to tile underneath or behind them because you can only tile an area thats accessible. Any appliance left in situ can only be tiled around.

fez IF YOU REQUIRE A TILED BATHROOM FLOOR IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT THE SANITARYWARE BE REMOVED. This means that when everything is replaced it sits neatly on top of the new tiles leaving a much more professional finish and avoids possible uneven scribe cuts and heavy grout lines.

fez If youre supplying your own tiles you must ensure you have purchased enough to complete the installation. Once youve worked out your square metreage add 10% to allow for waste (thisll be the cuts that cant be re-used). If youre left with a point something, for example 12.3m2, make sure you round it up, in this case to 13m2. If you buy insufficient tiles at the start and end up buying more, theres a good chance therell be shading differences as theyll have come from different batches. Re-visiting to complete a job may incur additional charges. So, its a simple rule, buy enough tiles first time around!

fez Floor grouting is usually light grey in colour and wall grouting is usually white, but there are a multitude of different coloured grouts out there. We would always suggest a colour that would complement your tile choice, but if you would prefer your own colour, then you should have this specified at the quoting stage to ensure it is clarified within the cost.
